COOKIES POLICY
What is a Cookie?
A cookie consists of information sent by a web server to a web browser, and stored by the browser. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser.
First Party Cookies
This website creates a number of cookies, referred to as “First Party Cookies” as they are specific to the host site that created them. All the first-party cookies created by this site do not store any personal or sensitive information, or anything that makes you personally identifiable to me. First Party Cookies are used for essential functionality such as security when processing form data or for analytics which helps me use anonymous visitor data to gain a better understanding of how people use this website.
By using this website I’ll assume that you are happy to receive all cookies on this website, but I have provided links on how you can set your browser to prevent cookies being created.
Cookie Message and Cookie closed
A cookie message may appear along the bottom of this website when you first open the site. This warns you that the site collects cookies and asks you to accept this. If you close this Cookie Message, our web server will create a cookie called “cookieclosed”. Cookieclosed is essential for remembering that you have closed this message and to prevent the Cookie Message from continually reappearing. Cookieclosed expires after 24 months from the initial ‘close’ of the message, after which the Cookie Message may reappear if you revisit this website.
Session IDs
My web server may create a session cookie called PHPSESSID. This cookie is essential for your use of some of the interactive elements of this website, such as contact forms. It contains a session ID which distinguishes your visit to this website from any other visitors that may be using the website at the same time. When you leave this website this sessional cookie expires.

The information generated relating to this website is used to create reports about the use of the website itself. Google will store this information. Google’s privacy policy is available at: http://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html.
Google Analytics, creates a number of first-party cookies, as described here:

__utmb | used to establish and continue a unique user session | Each time you request another page from the website the cookie is updated to expire after 30 minutes. |
__utmc | works with __utmb to determine when to create a new session for a website visitor | expires when you exit the browser |
__utmz | tracks how you found the this website and is used to calculate traffic and navigation within the website | |
__utmv | relates to custom reporting segments |
I do not share the data that Google Analytics collects. I use the data that is collected in the following ways:
- to report, in aggregate, how visitors find and use my website;
- to understand overall visitor behaviour;
- and to inform how I update and improve my website.
Most browsers allow you to reject all cookies, whilst some browsers allow you to reject just third party cookies. Blocking all cookies will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites. To opt out of the use of Google Analytics you may wish to consider using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
